Dr James Otiende                                  
MB ChB, FRACGP
Practice Principal


Dr Otiende worked several years in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Kenya and South Africa before making the move to Port Augusta, South Australia. During his time in Port Augusta, Dr Otiende worked in the Emergency Department, High Dependency Unit & General Medicine, General Surgery & Women's Health as well as daytime surgery at Pika Wiya Indigenous Medical Centre.

 

Since moving to Perth, Dr Otiende spent several years working at Beckenham Medical Centre in Cannington before joining Helena Valley Medical Centre in 2011.

 

Areas of interest include, but not limited to:

  • Child and Women's health
  • Men's health
  • Minor surgery 
  • Skin cancer checks

Dr Sharnee Rutherford
MBBS (UWA, 1992), FRACGP (1996), FACRRM (2000)

General Practitioner

 

After graduating locally at UWA, Dr Rutherford worked in gynaecology at King Edward Hospital, psychiatry at Graylands Hospital, and emergency medicine at Wanneroo Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital.  As a young GP she worked in Lockridge, Wembley Downs before heading to rural areas of Gingin and Moora.

Dr Rutherford established the Lancelin Medical Centre in 1997 and joined Helena Valley Medical Centre in 2006. She has been a GP supervisor, training junior doctors since 2002.

Dr C. Monica Rosca
MBBS, FRACGP

General Practitioner

 

After graduating in Romania, Dr Rosca moved to Australia in 2008 where she worked at Sir Charles Gairdner and Swan District Hospitals. She trained locally as a General Practitioner and practiced rurally in Moora, Northam and Bindoon before coming to Helena Valley Medical Centre in August 2015. She is a mother and lives locally with her family.

Dr Yoshi Inoue
FAMAC, AMC, FACRRM,MD

General Practitioner

 

Dr Yoshi Inoue has served many years in general practices in rural communities of Western Australia.

He obtained his Fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 1999 and has since developed an interest in travel medicine and medical acupuncture, gaining his Fellowship with the Australian Medical Acupuncture College  (FAMAC in 2006).  He is also a designated Casa Medical Examiner and welcomes pilot medicals.

Dr Norah Kalibbala

MBChB FRACGP

General Practitioner

 

Dr Norah Kalibbala is a Specialist General Practitioner who has worked across various aspects of medicine in several countries including East Africa (Uganda) and South Africa

(Lesotho, Eastern Cape Province), before moving to Australia.

 

She initially worked as a rural GP in Australia for several years at clinics in the Wheatbelt region of WA (Beverley and Brookton), before moving to Perth.

 

She is passionate about all areas of General Practice with a keen interest in,

(but not limited) to:

 

  • Women’s health (contraception, antenatal and postnatal care, menopause and its problems).
  • Children’s health
  • Mental Health
  • Geriatrics – older person’s health
  • Prevention medicine and immunisation
  • Men’s health.

 

Practice Nurses

Helena Valley Medical Centre has a Practice Nurse on duty from 8:30am to 5:30pm weekdays.

 

Our practice nurses have various responsibilities including health assessments; health education; immunisations; wound care management; ECG monitoring; assisting in procedures and many other clinical skills as required by the doctors. 

 

As well as registered clinical nurses we have a dedicated chronic disease management nurse working 1-2 days per week.
